Greetings all!

Here are some common issues when not getting any image from Movavi when trying to capture from a video source. This guide is for using the provided Movavi Video Editor bundled with our USB video capture card **SVID2USB232**.

> Capture and convert an S-Video or composite video from legacy sources

**The right capture source**

The first and most important step is to ensure you have selected the right capture source in the software. To change your capture source, simply:

1. Click on the Configuration icon on the top-right side of the capture screen and select **video capture source**.

2. Then, simply select either **Video Composite In** if you are using the yellow (RCA) capture cable or **Video SVideo In** if you are using the black (DIN-pins) capture cable. The audio remains the same Red & White for both sources.

**\_**
**The right resolution**

Depending on your source, it may be required to change the capture resolution to better match the source format.

1. You’ll want to first confirm the source resolution. You can generally find this information in your source device’s documentation or from an online search. Once you know the output resolution of your source device, simply change the **Resolution** option located on the right-side of the capture window.

This step is particularly important as most capture source that are NTCS typically use a resolution of **640 x 480** while Movavi’s default resolution is set to **720 x 576** , which is intended for PAL regions such as in Europe.

**The right video standard**

Lastly, another important setting to verify is the video standard used by your equipment. Typically, equipment meant for usage in North America will use the **NTSC\_M** standard while in Europe it will often be **PAL\_B**. To change this setting, simply:

1. Click on the Configuration icon on the top-right side of the capture screen and select **video capture device**.

2. Then, simply select the right **:video standard** from the drop-down list.

Please ensure that your video source is in working condition and currently playing media when testing. You can always double-check by connecting into a TV’s composite/s-video to ensure it is otherwise in working condition.

**Important notes**

→ The audio will mute when a recording is occurring. This is normal and once finished, the captured video will include the audio as well within the editor.

→ When directly testing an exported video, the choice of audio codec can affect the capability your computer has to play the audio. If you are able to play audio in the editor but exported files do not seem to play audio, your computer likely does not have the right codec as the export options selected. Simply visit the Microsoft Store to add the missing codec, or test with a different media player, such as VLC.
