Facing Some Issues with Backup Solutions and StarTech Product. Any Advice?

I’m currently experiencing some challenges with my backup solutions while using the StarTech USB 3.0 to SATA III Adapter (Model: S251BMU317). The main issues arise when trying to back up data from my external drives; I often encounter connectivity issues and inconsistent transfer speeds.

I’ve tried different cables and ports but still face these problems. Has anyone else dealt with similar issues using the StarTech S251BMU317 for backup solutions? Any advice on troubleshooting or optimizing the setup would be greatly appreciated!

For this type of issue, the best would be to first try and isolate the plausible source of these connection issues.

  • Have you tried a different drive in our enclosure?
  • Have you tried the same process but with the drive internally connected (or in a different enclosure)?

If possible, these tests would help isolate if the issue is specific to the enclosure or if it rather relates to the drive, computer or usage context itself.
