Hello @Darrell and thank you for your interest in our Community.

The TV’s compatibility itself isn’t much of a concern as it wouldn’t really be affected by the addition of our **[HD202A](https://www.startech.com/HD202A)** (the device extracts audio before it reaches your TV). As long as your TV has an HDMI input, then it will work fine with the output of our device.

The question rather relates to the video source device (what is sending the video and audio signal out by HDMI). This device will be the one that our device tries to extract the audio from. If you plan to use the optical out, you’ll be able to use 5.1 surround in passthrough. If your goal is to use the analogue composite output (white and red), then you’ll want to setup your audio source to be in Stereo mode.

I hope this helps! Let us know if you have any further questions.

Emmanuel B.
