Several weeks ago, I contacted support using the form, but I never received a reply.
So I’m sharing my problem on the forum.
I bought a ‘4PORT-8K-HDMI-SWITCH’ switch to automatically switch different sources (consoles, Blu-Ray player, TV decoder) to a single output, to a sound bar.
After various tests, when I switch on a source, only the one on the ‘HDMI 1’ socket causes the whole system to switch on in CEC (sound bar and TV).
Note that :
as soon as I switch on another source (the one on HDMI 1 is switched off), the HDMI input indicator changes on the switch, but does not cause the sound bar and TV to wake up. Note that if I connect the same source to HDMI input 1, the sound bar and TV do turn on.
if I manually force input 2, 3 or 4 before switching on the source, the sound bar and TV still don’t switch on.
the behaviour is the same when the switch is connected directly to the TV
the peripherals, connected directly to the TV, do wake up as soon as one of them is switched on.
Is the switch’s behaviour normal? There’s nothing in the documentation to say that only the ‘HDMI 1’ input is used to send the CEC ‘wake-up signal’.
Thank you for posting to our Community. I am sorry that you have not heard back yet regarding your email request.
You are correct that only the Input 1 port of 4PORT-8K-HDMI-SWITCH supports CEC and that CEC will not work through any of the other ports. I apologize that this information is not made clear in the specifications or manual.
I am very sorry for the inconvenience and frustration. I will be making a request to see if we can get the information updated to make sure that it is clearly stated that only port 1 supports this feature and can update this thread once I have an update.
We do have another 4 port HDMI video switch that supports CEC, this would be our VS421HD20. However this switch supports a maximum resolution and refresh rate of 4K at 60Hz, rather than 8K 60Hz or 4K 120Hz like 4PORT-8K-HDMI-SWITCH does.
