This device was hooked to a router using a standard USB to a USB 3.1 (on the back of the device). My new router only has RJ45.
Can I use an adapter to change the USB to an RJ45. I can’t find a cable like this
I am not sure that the adapter will match up the pins correctly. Thanks for your advice
Hello @SufferingCubFan and thank you for your interest in our Community.
I understand that you previously had your S352BU313R connected to an older router via USB, and now your new router (Netgear Orbi RBR850) only has Ethernet ports. Unfortunately, a simple USB to Ethernet adapter won’t work in this case because your old router had an integrated NAS feature that allowed it to connect external storage over USB.
The new router lacks this integrated NAS feature, which means you need a different solution to continue using your S352BU313R as a network-attached storage (NAS). Here are a few options:
- Stand-alone NAS: You can get a stand-alone NAS device that has a USB port to connect your S352BU313R. This will allow you to share the storage over the network.
- Other devices: You can use a device like a Raspberry Pi to build your own NAS and connect your S352BU313R to it.
- Another computer: You can use another (or old) computer to serve your S352BU313R over the network, essentially using it as a NAS.
I hope this helps clarify the situation and provides you with some viable options to continue using your backup device. If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
