Fax'ing with USB56KEMH2 ---- on a VOIP phone line

I am using a ooma telo for a land line —- I am use the windows fax program – does any know what the best modem command use to to help with sending a fax?

Hello @fpefpe,

Thank you for asking your first question here on the StarTech.com Community page.

I took a few moments to quickly check the Ooma Telo VOIP service. Unfortunately, we would not expect reliable performance with a USB modem like the USB56KEMH2 on a VOIP service because of the requirements of each of these technologies.

After reviewing the documentation for the USB56KEMH2, we do not appear to have any modem commands documented to help with VOIP specifically. You can find a document with the AT commands for the modem listed on the drivers and downloads section of the product page.

When searching on the Ooma site, I found a fax guide for their service: Faxing with Ooma. There is a note at the bottom of this page that also indicates a landline may be needed for reliable service.

You may want to review Ooma’s recommendations for faxing, and check the AT document for commands which may relate, like ECM.

I am sorry that we do not have more good news to offer for faxing with the USB56KEMH2 over VOIP services, but please let us know if there is anything else that we can do to help!

Sincerely,
@DavidF
