I have a SV431HU34K6 which provides basic functionality with keyboard, display and mouse connected to 4 different PCs. My monitor (ASUS PB328) has a USB 3.0 hub to which I have connected one of the HID connectors on the KVM switch. The monitor hub is conected to 1) Hyper Alloy FPS Pro mechanical keyboard (wired), 2) Logitech Bolt wireless dongle and 3) Logfitech webcam. The keyboard and wireless mouse are both functional through the KVM switch but the webcam isn’t seen by any of the 4 PCs. I tried plugging the webcam directly into various HID USB ports on the KVM switch and none of them will allow the webcam to work. Similarly, the hotkeys do not function even though the keyboard is working with all the input PCs. One PC does generate the low-pitched beep indicating the that hot ket was not suffessful but none of the other PCs even generate hte unsuccessufl sound. Along similar lines, when I plug an external hard drive into the hub, it’s not recognized either but it works when plugged into one of the HID ports on the switch.
additionally…
I get error messages from windows about the last USB device connected to this computer malfuctioning and that windows does not recognize the device
.

First, in regards tot he webcam issue, this is something users do see often when being used with KVM’s, docking stations, port replicators, etc. Logitech themselves mention this and recommend that you connect their webcams directly to the computers. That being said, one thing that might work is connecting the webcam to one of the USB 3 ports on the KVM instead of the HID ports. But still, I can’t guarantee this will work either.
As for the hotkey capability, this would require that the keyboard is connected DIRECTLY to one of the HID ports on the KVM. This will not work if any additional hub is connected in between. Also do keep in mind, this is also meant to be used with standard, wired USB keyboards. Things like, wireless and gaming style keyboards don’t always work for this either.
And then for the external hard drive connected via the hub to one of the HID ports on the KVM, this may also not work. Any time you would be connecting an additional USB hub to the KVM, it would be recommended to use one of the USB 3 ports and not an HID port on the KVM. And in general, it is not recommended to connect addition USB hubs to the KVM if it can be avoided and plug your USB devices directly to the KVMs USB ports.
The USB hub may also be a factor in the error message you are receiving. I would suggest removing that from this setup and try connecting the USB devices directly to the USB ports on the KVM and see if that error stops appearing.
I hope this information is useful and if we can be of any additional help, please don’t hesitate to respond!
