Linux Serial Driver Support

Will the PEX4S953LP driver run on RHEL 9.X?

Hello @lpotter ,

Thank you for asking your question here on the StarTech.com Community page.

For Linux we very often list our support based on the Linux kernel version and not the distribution. On the StarTech.com technical specifications for the PEX4S953LP we list support for Linux. Linux 2.4.x and up - LTS Versions only. So any standard Linux distribution that has a kernel with long term support from Linux 2.4 and up should work fine.

Based on the information I could find about RHEL 9, it appears to use Linux kernel 5.4 which is an LTS kernel. We would not anticipate any issues with the PEX4S953LP on RHEL 9 running kernel 5.4 and we can certainly support it.

If your distribution does not automatically recognize and install the PEX4S953LP you may need to install the kernel module (driver) from the drivers and downloads section on our site. You will note that the driver installation guide (DIG) included with the PEX4S953LP driver package has Debian specific instructions. However as long as you have the standard build tools and kernel headers installed for your distribution, you can follow the readme instructions contained from the tar.bz2 archive in the zip.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or if you would like assistance with that installation.

Sincerely,
@DavidF
