Hello

i have a IH2006-KVM-EXTENDER on the network .

it works but the screen is sometimes hanging and disrupted image. it passes through some cisco switches CS1300 and CBS series. how can i getthis solved so the customer can use it for playing video and using it as a normal pc for looking up google maps mostly

anyone got this problem?

I am sorry to hear about the disrupted image issues with the IH2006-KVM-EXTENDER.

To help quickly isolate the issue, we recommend trying a direct Ethernet cable connection between the transmitter and receiver units in this kit, bypassing the switches and any other network equipment. If the issue no longer occurs with a direct connection we can look into some network troubleshooting.

The special notes and requirements for the IH2006-KVM-EXTENDER on the StarTech.com product page advise that IGMP snooping and 9K jumbo frame support is needed on the routers and each transmitter should be on its own dedicated network. This is common for many IP based video extender solutions.

Please let us know if you are able to test and share your results here and we can certainly advise you about the next steps.

wel seperate VLAN with multicasting/IGMP turned on seem to solve the video problem.

however the mouse and keyboard reaction time is slow. i tought first it was the wireles keyboard but even with a wired keyboard and mouse it is lagging. video looks ok now.

how do you solve this?

Thank you for testing out those settings on your network devices. I am glad to hear that it resolved the video troubles.

Thank you for testing with the wired keyboard and mouse to isolate possible wireless latency, that is a good step.

I have not seen slow performance with the USB devices on this KVM extender kit, but we can investigate that further too.

About how slow is reaction time on the USB devices? Are you working with a standard wired USB mouse and keyboard, or are they specialty devices with additional features? To be sure, It may be good to test with a standard 104-key keyboard and 3 button mouse, if you are not already doing so.

I am curious if a power cycle of the transmitter and receiver units in the IH2006-KVM-EXTENDER kit would help after that wireless keyboard and mouse were removed.

In my last response I mentioned testing with a direct Ethernet cable connection between the transmitter and receiver units. This step may also be good to try to isolate the USB keyboard and mouse lag if it is still occurring after confirming the previous steps.

Please let us know how some more testing goes. If there is still latency with connected USB devices, share a few more details about your devices and what is happening, and we can consider what to do next.
