Missing SDS Virtual Serial Port in Device Manager

Hello All,

Been trying to get this serial device configured and truth be told: had to reset it back to factory and uninstall the software a couple of times. Now that I got the IPv4 settings right, I can’t find the SDS Driver in Device Manager. I do know that the first time I discovered the serial device server on the Manager software, Device Manager had listed COM 44 as its associated COM port number but It doesn’t have that option now as I am configuring the sign I am trying to manually set up. Can someone let me know what I need to do assign the COM port?

Hello @scribjen and thank you for your interest in our Community.

I would be happy to help you. Would it be possible to confirm the Product ID of the equipment in question, the drivers and/or software you have installed (from a CD, our web site or elsewhere) as well as a short description of what you are trying to do please?

I look forward to hearing back from you.

SKU #I13-Serial-Ethernet

Installed Device Service Manager

I am trying to communicate with a Galaxy Readerboard (External Digital Sign - 64 Monochome). It is connected to a RS-232 to Rs-422 Converter and then to THIS device RS-232 to Ethernet Converter and then to a Switch on our network. It is controlled and changed with Venus 1500 Software on WIndows 10 Computer.

Hello @scribjen , thank you for the information.

As long as the IPv4 setup process is completed and functional, you should now be able to access the device’s web interface (for configuration) as well as interact with the serial port either by TELNET or by virtual COM port on your computer (when setup using the provided software).

My recommendation would be to first try with a loop-back test. This will help verify if the issue comes from the serial device/setup itself, or rather the serial configuration, equipment etc.

This troubleshooting guide is a good starting point to validate the setup and loop-back of your device. If the loop-back fails, please contact our Technical Support, while in front of your equipment and we will be happy to assist you directly.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
