Pexusb3s42 not working properly on Supermicro X12SCZ-F

i installed 2 pexusb3s42 on supermicro X12SCZ-F with drivers one of them is placed on PCIe x16 and the other one PCIe x4 right beside it but when i plug the usb or mouse or keyboard in one of the PEXUSB3S42 the other one will turn of and the one on PCIe x4 is lagging and i tried with SATA power cables also still same problem any solutions?

after changing the settings in device manager on usb 3.0 hub unchecking allow computer to turn off this device now both works but the usb card on PCIe x4 is lagging with mouse and keyboard but it works fine with flash drives.

Hello @khairu,

Welcome to the StarTech.com Community. Thank you for asking your question!

Thank you for reviewing and removing the USB power settings, that seems to have helped, but the lag does not sound right.

There are a lot of different things to consider, however, there is one point that stands out to me that I would like to address first.

In that last few versions of Windows the drivers for USB 3.0 (USB 3.2 Gen 1) controller cards like the PEXUSB3S42 will install automatically. We may have drivers available on our site or on a disk, if that was included. These drivers will be for for very older of Windows or exceptional circumstances but these drivers may be outdated.

If older drivers are installed please uninstall these drivers either from the Installed apps/Programs and features in Windows, or from the device manager directly. In the device manager select the entry under the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section and uninstall, be sure to select the checkbox to delete the drivers too. The PEXUSB3S42 has a VIA/VLI VL805 chipset so with two cards installed there should be two device manager entries for that controller.

After uninstalling those drivers, restart the system, and check the Universal Serial Bus Controllers section has automatically installed the best drivers.

If uninstalling older drivers does not help we can then look further into some hardware tests. For example, we might suggest swapping cards, or trying each card individually in each slot. This can help us understand if the issue is following a particular PEXUSB3S42 unit or a particular PCIe slot on the Supermicro motherboard.

Please let me know if uninstalling the drivers makes the differences, or if you would like me to dig a little bit deeper into the hardware, or other settings with you.

Sincerely,

@DavidF
