SAT3540U3ER
About three weeks ago this raid showed a red light next to drive 3 of the array. I ordered an exact replacement.
I powered down the raid while waiting for the new drive to arrive. Once it did I slid the bad one out and marked it. I put the new one into the enclosure and powered it up.
It went into rebuild mode almost immediately which lasted about 50 hours.
When it completed the drive mounted for the operating system (Windows 10) and it identified itself as before. However, when I try and read the drive the operating system reports “not accessible.”
I looked at the system using the Windows create and format hard disks and partitions. I did nothing other than see what it reported. It said it was healthy.
Thank you for asking your question here on the StarTech.com Community.
I am very sorry to hear about the trouble accessing your data on the SAT3540U3ER after the drive error issue. We can certainly take some time to investigate with you to see if we can isolate the error and help you access your data.
Just in case you have very valuable data that cannot be lost, I want to add a disclaimer and the following recommendation. While a product like the SAT3540U3ER can help maintain data availability even a drive fails, we could only recommend using it as part of a back up solution and not a sole back up solution. If the data on the SAT3540U3ER is very valuable and you do not want to risk losing it, I would suggest contacting a data recovery specialist that will be equipped to read disks with different formatting and recover data. StarTech.com does not recommend any particular data recovery professionals or services.
If your data is backed up in another location or with a service or you are not concerned about data loss, we can investigate further.
Which RAID format was used to set up the SAT3540U3ER?
The available modes are: 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, and BIG.
Was the drive on the formatted on this computer or on another computer?
If other computers are available it may be worth trying to access to access the drive from the computer
How does the drive appear in the Windows 10 disk management utility?
Does it show up as a disk with partitions and are there any status changes? Should the disk be listed as offline, when you right click it there, you may simply be able to set it to online.
Depending on the type of RAID mode used and the value of the data, we may be able to suggest other ways to test.
Please share any further detail you can and I will be happy to look into this further with you.
