mac mini to Samsung S22D300 monitor
Hello @sfsteve , thank you for your interest in our Community.
From what I can see on Samsung’s specifications the S22D300 has an HDMI port in the back, which should allow you to directly connect an HDMI cable between your Mac and the monitor.
Did you have a particular question or aspect you would like to have help with concerning your Mac Mini and Samsung monitor?
Are you perhaps looking for an HDMI cable? (such as our standard 6ft HDMM6 for example)
Please let us know how we can help. Have an excellent day!
Emmanuel B.
Mine must be an old one, because it only has a vga plug.
I’ve bought several Startech adaptor cables, all vga to hdmi. The last one I bought was supposedly powered, but it still didn’t work.
Hello @sfsteve ,
VGA to HDMI adapters won’t work on your Mac due to HDCP restrictions in mac OS. We need to find another video port to convert.
Would it be possible to please confirm the model or year of your Mac Mini? Or provide a picture of the back?
Thank you! Emmanuel B.
Hi Emmanuel,
I own a Samsung S22D300 monitor and Mac Pro 1.1. The latter has both DVI (24+5) Port and Mini Display Port.
Currently I am using VGA cable for connection. I would like to use the HDMI feature of the monitor. When I use two types of Adapters (DVI to HDMI, mDP to HDMI), the monitor screen alternates from Analog to HDMI, without image.
Could you advise how to use the HDMI feature? Many thanks.
Philip
Hello @phil5808 and thank you for your interest in our Community.
Both options (DVI to HDMI and mDP to HDMI) should work and are exactly the same solutions I would have also recommended. If it isn’t working, I would recommend to perhaps test with different devices, swap variables around to see where the problem is from.
For example: trying another HDMI capable video device and connect it on your Samsung monitor to see if the HDMI input works. You could also try a different HDMI monitor as well to test on the Mac.
I hope this helps,
Emmanuel B.
