I am trying to connect my computer’s video output (HDMI) to my Dell monitor (P2213f) DP input. I purchased an adaptor but it did not work. The computer’s HDMI outputs works fine on an HDMI monitor and the monitor is a functioning unit with a DP input. Can someone tell me what converter I should purchase to make this work?
TIA,
Mitch
Hello @mitch8 and thank you for your interest in our Community.
From your description, I believe you may have purchased a DP to HDMI adapter. These are the more common choice and have a wide variety of options. However, these are direction in the sense that they require to be used from a DP computer (source) to an HDMI monitor or TV (display).
To connect an HDMI source to a DP display, you’ll rather need an HDMI to DP adapter or cable. In your case, the monitor works in 1080p and supports DP, DVI and VGA. You could either use a 2m HDMI to DP solution such as our HD2DPMM2M, or even use an HDMI to DVI solution instead, such as our HDMIDVIMM6. HDMI and DVI being inter-compatible, this solution is actually the easiest since it doesn’t involve any signal conversion (simply a connector change).
Please let us know if you need any further assistance and have an excellent day!
