Recording "Stereo Mix" Output Using StarTech 7.1 Channel USB External Sound Card

I am trying to set up Audacity to record the audio of an internet radio station. I can not figure out how to enable the “Stereo Mix” for the External Sound Card. The “Stereo Mix” for the Realtek Audio is enabled but it will not record in Audacity when the External Sound Card is plugged in. Any suggestions?

Hello @jeffotf,

Thank you for taking the time to ask your question about the functions of the ICUSBAUDIO7D here on the StarTech.com Community.

We may not be able to help directly with Audacity or the audio you wish to capture but we can do our best to make sure the ICUSBAUDIO7D is functioning correctly for you in Windows.

The ICUSBAUDIO7D does not have a Realtek chipset, so we might want to check the drivers first. Can you confirm if you are working with the latest drivers for the ICUSBAUDIO7D from the StarTech.com website? I will share a link.

ICUSBAUDIO7D Drivers & Downloads - https://www.startech.com/en-us/cards-adapters/icusbaudio7d#driver-and-downloads

Here you will find the driver package linked as: [cmedia cm6206] windows usb 7.1 audio adapter.zip

Inside this driver package you will find both the driver setup file, and a manual for the driver software that will provide some more specific instructions for configuring that USB audio adapter.

The ICUSBAUDIO7D uses a C-Media CM6206 chipset, so if the audio device does not show up as based on the part number or as a USB audio device it may show up with a name based on the chipset.

Please let us know if these drivers or the manual help you get up and running or share some more about what you are seeing and we will be happy to investigate further.

Sincerely,

@DavidF
