I have three SDOCK2U33RE Duplicator Dock with UASP
When I use them to copy a HDD to A SSD they work fine
When I use them to Copy a SSD to A SSD the corrupt the data on the copied drive.
Are these units defective???
Please advise
Hi @FREDLAUX. Thank you for posting on our StarTech.com Community forum!
This is definitely odd behavior and not something that would be expected. I do not expect these to be defective since using an HDD vs. an SSD should be identical so long as all the drives are standard SATA drives. So if it is working with one, regardless of if it is HDD or SSD, it would indicate the SDOCK2U33RE units are functional. Now having said that, there are definitely some things we can look at to try and troubleshoot this. I would like to ask some initial questions to get a better understanding of the full context of this use case.
- Are you able to provide the full make and model of the HDD’s and SSD’s being used here as well as the drive sizes of each?
- What is the data on the source drive that is being copied? Is it an image? Or just a drive with files for storage?
- Are these duplications completing fully as indicated by the progress LED’s? Or is there any error status?
- Are you able to provide any additional context as to the corruption you are seeing? The more detailed information you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
- Do you have any other SDOCK2U33RE units not showing this behavior?
If you are able to provide as much detail as possible in the answers to these questions it will be very beneficial in trying to troubleshoot what could be causing this behavior and I look forward to your response.
