I have a few of these docks in our environment that are not connecting to our network via Ethernet. I can not find firmware or drivers. One of these is a remote user that it was working then it stopped randomly. Not sure how to move forward with this issue.
I have made sure everything is updated that can be. The Ethernet cable works when plugged into laptop just not with the dock. If you unplug the cable you have to restart the computer for it to pick up WiFi again. Brand new dock, brand new computer. Using windows 10
Thank you for posting on the Startech.com Community. I am sorry to hear you are having difficulty with our 132N-TB4USB4DOCK.
To help determine our next steps, could I please ask the following:
What is the make and model of the computer?
To clarify, when you say “If you unplug the cable you have to restart the computer for it to pick up WiFi again” are you referring to unplugging the dock’s Thunderbolt cable from the laptop or if you unplug ethernet from the laptop or dock?
Due to the complexity of the issue you are describing, I would also recommend reaching out to our team support team directly using the options at https://www.startech.com/en-us/support. Live interactions through phone or live chat can often have a quicker turnaround to a resolution and then we can update the community post with the resolution.
So what is happening is when we use this dock with our Lenovo t15 t16 x1carbon gen 9 10 and 11 . It will shut off the Ethernet on the computer. We have the docks whitelisted on our domain and it will interfere with the laptop picking up the WiFi once the Ethernet gets shut off until we unplug the computer from the usb c thunderbolt . Sometimes this also requires a restart of the laptop for WiFi to start working. The main problem is the Ethernet /wired connection not working
To make sure I am understanding, when you say the Ethernet on the computer is being shut off, are you referring to the ethernet adapter built into the computer itself or the ethernet of the dock is disabled and cannot be turned on?
If you haven’t done so already, I would recommend reinstalling the latest version of the computer’s USB and Thunderbolt drivers, as well as any Thunderbolt firmware or BIOS updates that may be available for the computers.
If possible, I would also suggest testing a dock on an isolated network to confirm if they work elsewhere in case the network may be related to the reason why an ethernet connection is not working.
