The USB-A connecter on this unit does not seem to fit securely into the USB-A port on my laptop computer. As such, the slightest movement interrupts the signal to the external monitors and disables to multiple monitor setup settings in Win11. Sometimes, Win11 will not recognize the additional monitors and it takes considerable time to reset everything because trying to finesse the connection of the USB-A connector is so sensitive that it’s rather tedious to get it “just right” so that it holds the signal and then set up the monitor setup in Win11 settings again. This is frustrating. Is this a normal occurrence?
Yes, I have tried other USB-A ports with no difference - the connection is just overly fragile and sensitive.
Hello @MikeC
Thank you for posting on our StarTech.com Community forum!
I am very sorry to hear you are having this issue with one of our USB32HD2 adapters. And to answer your question, no. This is definitely not a normal occurrence.
And if you have already tested this in multiple USB ports and/or on multiple computers all showing the same behavior then it is likely that the USB connector on the adapter may have some form of physical issue preventing proper contact.
In this case I would highly recommend reaching out to one of our Technical Advisors via our Live chat feature which you can access on our website. We can go over a few details with you and if applicable we can look into possibly providing a replacement adapter under warranty.
