I’m experiencing an issue with my StarTech.com USB32HD4 4-Port USB 3.0 to HDMI Adapter.
Here’s the problem:
Two of the four HDMI ports randomly freeze, displaying a static image.
The freezing always occurs on the same two HDMI ports. Either ports 1 and 3 freeze, or ports 2 and 4 freeze. There are no other patterns.
This occurs on Windows 11.
I’ve tried using different HDMI cables and connecting to different monitors, but the issue persists.
Connecting the adapter to a different PC results in the same problem.
The issue is temporarily resolved by unplugging and reconnecting the USB 3.0 cable, effectively restarting the adapter.
I have the latest device drivers installed, version 24.01.0730.3679.
I use this device daily for work, and the issue occurs approximately every two days.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any suggestions for troubleshooting?

Display issues like intermittent freezing can often be influenced by how the USB video adapter interacts with your computer’s graphics hardware and system configuration. Before considering any issue on the hardware side, it would be important to first troubleshoot any potential software issue first by ensuring an optimal setup process. To do so, we recommend following these troubleshooting steps:
Disconnect our device and Uninstall the current USB video drivers from your system.
Update your computer’s BIOS/Firmware to the latest version available from your system or motherboard manufacturer.
Update your graphics card drivers directly from the GPU manufacturer’s website (e.g., Intel, AMD, NVIDIA).
Restart your computer to ensure all updates are properly applied.
After downloading, extract the driver files completely.
Right-click on the setup file and select “Run as Administrator” to begin installation. This ensures the installer has the necessary permissions to configure the driver correctly.
When ready, simply reconnect our device to your computer.
Following these steps helps eliminate potential conflicts and ensures the adapter is working with the most stable and compatible system environment.
We appreciate your patience and hope this helps resolve the issue!
