P4A20132-KM-SWITCH mouse roaming not working. PLEASE HELP

I just bought the P4A20132-KM-SWITCH and using it with the Samsung 57" Odyssey Neo G9 Dual 4K UHD MODEL: LS57CG952NNXZA.

Right now I have the monitor set to display 2 computers on a single monitor. I did the LCTRL LCTRL ALT HOLD Q 0 I hear the Beep. But when I move the mouse it stays on just one screen.

Am I doing something wrong or is it the monitor its self? It looks like it does this with the monitor settings PIP Picture in Picture I presume. Will it not work like that on a single screen that is split as 2 computers two screens?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hello @Rarshaiz,

Thank you for taking the time to ask your question here on the StarTech.com Community page.

After checking Samsung’s specifications we might not suspect the monitor configuration to affect the performance of the P4A20132-KM-SWITCH.

The hotkey functions are detailed in the hotkey command guide on the drivers and downloads section of the product page. I reviewed that and it sounds like you want to achieve mouse roaming across the two computers connected to your Samsung monitor.

According to this guide, and what you have shared so far, I suspect you may want to try the following sequence:

  • LCTRL + LCTRL + Alt (Hold) + Q + 4
    Enabling mouse roaming in 1 x 4 mode.

This should allow you to navigate between the two computers side by side on the display with PC1 on the left and PC2 on the right.

Please let me know if that helps, or if you have any other questions and we will be happy help.

Sincerely,
@DavidF

I will try this at a later date as I just had my main Video card fail so it will take a couple weeks before I get back to running again. Thanks

I have exactly the same set up and the same problem. I had a SIIG and returned it for the startech because the siig had the same issue. I have a mac computer and a windows computer and mouse roaming just doesn’t work

this did work for me I missed this step.

LCTRL + LCTRL + Alt (Hold) + Q + 4
Enabling mouse roaming in 1 x 4 mode.

Because my screens are side by side after I did that it started to work fine. Since you have a pc and mac I would probably make sure you are switched to the PC and do it from there.

I think I tried to do that on the old SIIG switch it would beep to tell me that it was recognized, but on this new Star Trek switch, it doesn’t make any sound at all when I hit those keys

I can not recall but it also seem like there is a lctrl lctrl alt hold q O or 0 not sure witch it was. may have to try doing that first then the other or reverse it. You can find it in the manual. I was only doing the one I posted here and did not know about the part the tech told me about.

Hello @mickyw

Thank you for replying here about the P4A20132-KM-SWITCH hotkey functions too!

If those hotkeys are not working as expected we can investigate that with you.

Do any of the hotkeys work for you?

What sort of keyboard are you working with?

If you wish to share the model of the keyboard I can take a moment to check. If you are working with a keyboard like a gaming keyboard or a keyboard with additional features it may be worth testing with a standard USB keyboard connected to the P4A20132-KM-SWITCH to see if that helps with the hotkey recognition

Please let us know if that helps or if you can share some more details about your devices and we can review further.

Sincerely,
@DavidF
