I need to configure the print server with the Seiko Edito printer. I’ve configured the print server, but it’s impossible to configure the printer on Windows 11, nor on the server where I want to install it. I’m following the steps indicated here:
But when I select the printer and drivers, it fails:
Hello @NVS and thank you for your interest in our Community.
Based on the error message (“The printer cannot be installed. Error in the remote procedure call”), this usually occurs after selecting the printer and drivers, when Windows tries to communicate with the print spooler or remote print server. Here’s what you should check on your end:
1. Confirm Printer Compatibility
Make sure the printer is fully supported by Windows 11.
Test by connecting the printer directly via USB to the computer:
2. Verify Driver Installation
Use the latest manufacturer-supplied driver for your printer model.
Ensure the driver is signed and compatible with Windows 11.
Avoid generic drivers unless recommended by the printer manufacturer.
3. Check Windows Services
Confirm the Print Spooler service is running on the client PC.
Restart the service if needed:
Services.msc → Print Spooler → Restart.
Restart the computer if needed.
4. Network & Permissions
Ensure the PC can communicate with the print server:
No firewall blocking RPC or File/Printer Sharing ports.
Network profile set to “Private”.
Proper administrative permissions to add printers on the system.
5. Retry Adding the Printer
After confirming the above, try adding the printer again using the steps in the article you referenced.
Important Note
If the printer fails when testing in direct USB installation, please contact the printer manufacturer for driver or compatibility assistance.
I hope this helps. You are always welcome to contact our Technical Support team for live assistance, preferably while in front of the equipment in question.
