SDOCK2U33RE - Clone hd still attached to pc with the esata port

Hi,

Can I use the SDOCK2U33RE (USB 3.0/eSATA 1:1 SATA Duplicator Dock with UASP) with the eSata cable to clone the hdd IN my pc to the hdd in slot #1 on the unit?

Will this work? (sorry not very technically minded)

Thank you for any response.

Hello @geome and thank you for your interest in our Community.

A stand-alone duplicator (such as our SDOCK2U33RE and more) will allow duplicating only the drive directly inserted into the dock (the Slot #1 and #2).

The USB and eSATA ports are to connect the drives to a computer in Docking mode. You can still utilize our dock to perform a copy from your internal drive to an external drive on our SDOCK2U33RE, but this would no longer be a stand-alone copy: it would be done by your computer, using a cloning software (such as Acronis, EaseUS Backup or etc.).

→ To summarize, hardware stand-alone copy (no computer) is what this dock is meant for. If you want to clone an internal drive from a computer, you can still use our device, but it won’t use its own cloning function: it would be done from a software and our device would simply be used as a docking station.

I hope this helps answer your question.
