Startech USB-C to network adapter intermittent failure

This is model US1GC30B. If it’s recoginized by BIOS and I boot to it that way it works fine. However if I include the provided drivers in boot.wim and boot from a USB image the adapter fails intermittently. You can see it frequently drop the link light on the switch. I’ve loaded the drivers provided on the support page for this adapter into the boot.wim included on the USB thumb drive.

Specifically what I’m doing is creating a discover image in WDS via known working setup image. I used “copype” for copy of Win PE files. then used “makewinpemedia” to create a bootable USB drive. I then took the boot discover wim file and injected the startec drivers provided on the support page. Copied this file over to the sources folder replacing the existing boot.wim file.

I rolled back to some older drivers I had from before and they work. It appears the current drivers are incompatible with Win10 PE environment.

Hello @ djhut1,

Thank you for posting on the Startech.com Community!

Unfortunately we do not support US1GC30B with preinstallation environments such as Windows PE. We only support the adapter with the full versions of the operating systems listed in the technical specifications on the product page.

However, I am glad to hear that you were able to get it working successfully by using an older driver.

If there is anything else we could help with, please let us know!
