URGENT, TB310G 1ère génération, ne fonctionne pas

My problem: when I plug in the Thunderbolt cable it is lit green and when I plug in the RJ45 cable to the adapter and the FreeBox no light comes on either on the FreeBox or on the adapter.

When I plug the RJ45 cable directly into my Mac it works and also on my other USB-C to RJ45 2.5 Gb/s adapter.

When I connect the original cable to an external NVME SSD, it works.

I tried changing the Thunerbolt cable and the RJ45 cable, nothing works.

I installed the drivers.

I connected USB-A to a very old PC over 15 years old. Still not recognized.

I restarted the Mac normally and in safe mode.

The drivers on the site are for very old versions of MacOS, the most recent version available for download being MacOS Mojave.

Could it be a compatibility problem (Thunerbolt 3) (Thunerbolt 4).

Could the device be too old for my Mac mini M2 Pro.

Please tell me what steps to take and how to make it work.

I tried to install WINDOWS 11 as a virtual machine on my Mac, to see if it works with it. But I don’t know how to check.

Can you please give me a phone number where you will answer because it really annoys me to have thrown money out the window.

Hi @toinou42220, I’m sorry for the delayed response to this post and to hear about the issue you’ve experienced.

First, I want to address the overall support, and then I’ll address some specific points you raised in your two messages.

The TB310G is a Thunderbolt 3 to 10GBase-T RJ45 adapter with support for Windows 7 - 11, Sever 2008 R2, 2012 R2 and 2016, and macOS 10.11 to 10.14. This product is powered by a Tehuti TN4010 chipset to provide that 10GBase-T (10Gbps) network port functionality.

Tehuti manufactures the chipset used in this product, and they closed their doors in 2019 which meant newer drivers could not be created for the chipset, and thus, for our product. As such, the TB310G has since been replaced by the TB310G2. This uses a much newer, and still support AQuantia/Marvell AQC107S, and is supported in Windows 10 and 11, and macOS 10.15 - macOS 14.x.

Given you stated you are on a Mac Mini with an M2 Pro, and I believe these units shipped with an OS newer than macOS 10.14 when they were released, I do believe this is the issue. To confirm, what version of macOS are you using? You may confirm this via “About this Mac”, or “System Report” in your settings.

To address some specific points:

This would not work. As the TB310G is a Thunderbolt 3 product, it will only function when connected to a Thunderbolt 3, 4, or 5 host port. Converting it to USB-A with a USB-C to USB-A cable would remove all of the Thunderbolt protocol and capabilities, and would prevent the product from working.

I believe this has been addressed above in my initial response.

No, this should not be an issue as generally, Thunderbolt 3 devices will work with Thunderbolt 4 and 5 hosts. There are some exceptions, but this is not one of them to my knowledge.

Not due to hardware, but as advised above it could be caused by the version of macOS in use. I believe the M2 Pro powered Mac Mini’s launched in January 2023, which would mean they would be using macOS macOS 13.x Ventura as the oldest version, which would be too new.

If you are on a macOS version newer than 10.14.x, it is not possible to make this product function with your system and I wish to apologize for the inconvenience. You would need the newer TB310G2 for proper support. Depending on when and where you purchased the TB310G, and the return policy of the place of purchase, you may be able to return it for a refund.

My apologies, but we do not support this product in virtualized environments and would be unable to assist.

To supply a country-appropriate phone number, I would need to know which country you are from. Alternatively, if you load our website (StarTech.com) and select the correct country from the list in the upper left, it should show you the correct number to call on the right. As an example:

I look forward to your response.
