USB dead after prolonged computer sleep (TB4USB4DOCK, MBPro M4)

Hi,

I am generally extremely satisfied with my 4-display dock, bought along the Macbook Pro M4 to replace an aging desktop. I have found an issue, though: after I put the computer to sleep, the devices connected to dock’s USB ports do not wake up - or actually, the user-accessible USB ports do not wake up.

The displays wake up OK. The built-in dock ethernet works OK. But nothing can make the USB-A (didn’t check TB or USB-C ports) ports on the dock work, no unplugging and replugging, the only way to get these ports to work again is to reboot the computer.

While this is a minor annoyance in terms of the reboot speed, it IS an annoyance if you left your production at night, put the computer to sleep and the next morning you need to reboot, as no external control surface or audio interface works.

Can this issue be recreated in support and possibly corrected with a firmware update?

Specs: TB4USB4DOCK, Macbook Pro M4 Pro/Sequoia 15.1 (running two 4K DP displays with the lid closed)

Hello @TheWojtek and thank you for your interest in our Community.

I am sorry to hear about these issues. When the problem happens, have you tried to connect the cable to a different port? Or instead of restarting the laptop, have you tried only power cycling the dock instead? This isn’t a proposed solution, but just a test to help narrow down the issue.

Do you have another laptop we could test with? If so, I would recommend testing the same situation but on the other laptop.

Another test you could do as well with another computer is waiting for the issue to arrise, then plug the dock on the other computer to determine if the dock itself still works, or only the first computer is frozen.

We look forward to hearing back from you.
